Center-thrust stage

The altar is centered in the church, and set back are the pulpit (left) and chair (right) at Visitation Parish, KC, MO. The weakness of such a design is the raised expanse that distances people, in contrast to the great basilicas of Rome that have no comparable stage: the Lateran, St. Peters, St Paul’s.
